Iran congratulates Venezuela on Maduro’s re-election, hailing the democratic process amid sanctions.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani congratulated Venezuela on the successful presidential election that re-elected President Nicolas Maduro, despite what he termed “unjust” sanctions.

He praised the election as a testament to Venezuela’s democratic process, with broad participation and oversight by international observers. Kan’ani reaffirmed Iran’s support for Venezuela’s development goals and expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral relations.

According to Elvis Amoroso, head of Venezuela’s CNE, Maduro won 51.2% of the vote, securing another six-year term, while opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia received 44.2%.
