The US Department of Defense (DoD) announced on July 29 a new security assistance package for Ukraine totaling $1.7 billion.
This aid includes $200 million under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) and $1.5 billion through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). The PDA package features air defense interceptors, rocket and artillery munitions, and anti-tank weapons.
The USAI package provides munitions for NASAMS, RIM-7 air defense missiles, HIMARS, TOW missiles, Javelin and AT-4 systems, and various artillery shells and mortar rounds.
This marks the Biden administration’s 20th USAI package and the 62nd overall equipment tranche for Ukraine since August 2021.
