China is set to enhance consumer services to support high-quality economic development, addressing the demand for personalized, diversified, and quality services.
A new guideline from the State Council outlines 20 key tasks, including developing sectors like hospitality, elderly care, childcare, entertainment, and sports.
The plan also aims to foster new consumption types such as digital, green, and health services, while easing market access and enhancing regulation. Policies will support the opening of telecommunications, education, elderly care, and medical care sectors.
Efforts will include optimizing entry policies, resuming flights, diversifying payment services, and potentially offering visa-free entry to more countries. In the first half of 2024, China’s service retail sales rose by 7.5%, outpacing goods sales.
