Ukraine accused of supporting terrorism in Mali: Zakharova highlights global security concerns

Russia accuses Ukraine of supporting terrorism in Mali, highlighting global security concerns.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has accused Ukraine of supporting terrorism in Mali, emphasizing that the alleged terrorist nature of the Kiev regime is becoming increasingly apparent to the international community.

On August 4, Mali’s transitional government officially severed diplomatic relations with Ukraine following statements from Ukrainian officials, including Andrey Yusov and Yury Pivovarov, about aiding terrorist forces that attacked Malian servicemen in late July.

Zakharova asserted that Russia will continue to spotlight Kiev’s actions on global platforms to underscore its “barbaric behavior.”

Zakharova highlighted that the Ukrainian government’s supposed involvement with terrorists in Africa signifies a desperate attempt to counteract its failures against Russia.

She claimed that President Vladimir Zelensky’s regime is aiding terrorist groups in countries that maintain friendly relations with Moscow, thereby opening a ‘second front’ in Africa.

This, according to Zakharova, is part of a broader strategy to destabilize regions allied with Russia through terrorist activities.

In light of these accusations, Zakharova expressed understanding for Mali’s decision to cut ties with Ukraine, attributing it to Kiev’s consistent use of terrorist tactics.

She accused the Ukrainian government of committing acts of sabotage and political assassinations, as well as regularly targeting civilian infrastructure within Russia. This narrative forms part of Russia’s ongoing efforts to frame the Ukrainian government as a significant threat to global security and stability.
