Ukrainian forces have made significant advances into Russia’s Kursk Oblast, pushing up to 10 kilometers from the international border as part of an ongoing mechanized offensive on Russian territory.
Geolocated footage from August 6 and 7 confirms that Ukrainian armored vehicles have reached positions along the 38K-030 route, breaching at least two Russian defensive lines and capturing a key stronghold.
Reports from Russian sources indicate that since launching the operation on August 6, Ukrainian forces have seized 45 square kilometers of territory and captured 11 settlements, including Nikolaevo-Daryino and Darino, near the Sumy Oblast border.
The Ukrainian troops are currently advancing along the Sudzha-Korenovo highway, with fighting reported on the outskirts of Korenovo and Sudzha. Ukrainian forces also took control of the Sudzha checkpoint and gas distribution station, capturing over 40 Russian prisoners of war.
In response, Russia has deployed units from the Chechnya-based 71st Motorized Rifle Regiment to the Sudzhenskyi Raion, where heavy fighting continues. Chechen “Akhmat” units, which have been in the area for over a week, reportedly suffered significant losses during the Ukrainian attacks in the Korenovo Raion on August 7.
Satellite imagery shows extensive damage to the Sudzha checkpoint, highlighting the intensity of the ongoing conflict.
