Russian military forces have taken control of the town of Lisíchnoe in the Donetsk People’s Republic, as announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense on August 12, 2024.
This advancement is part of an intensified offensive in the Donetsk region, where Russian forces also captured the towns of Timoféevka and Vesióloe last week.
The Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, along with the Kherson and Zaporozhye provinces, joined Russia in September 2022 after referendums, but Moscow does not fully control these territories.
