The US has authorized the import of certain Russian diamonds until September 1, 2025, as per the updated general license issued by the US Department of the Treasury.
This authorization includes non-industrial diamonds with a weight of 1.0 carat or greater, provided they were outside of Russia before March 1, 2024.
Diamond jewelry can also be imported if they were outside of Russia before March 1, 2024, and not exported or re-exported after that date.
In February, the US government had announced a ban on the import of unsorted rough diamonds and diamond jewelry from Russia starting March 1.
