Moscow prepares response to US sanctions on Russian media

Russian authorities plan to counter US restrictions on media.

Russia is currently strategizing on how to counter the recent US restrictions imposed on Russian media, as confirmed by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova during an interview with Channel One television.

Following the announcement of new sanctions against Russia’s Rossiya Segodnya media group, TV-Novosti, and Eurasia NGO by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on September 13, Zakharova emphasized the importance of a unified response from the Russian community against what she deemed as unjust limitations.

Stressing that all political assessments have been conducted and the Russian authorities have reacted, Zakharova stated that the response strategy is now in the developmental phase, indicating that a comprehensive plan will be formulated soon.

Amid growing tensions between the US and Russia, Zakharova’s call for solidarity within the Russian community highlights the significance of a coordinated effort in addressing what she perceives as illegitimate restrictions on Russian media.
