US Treasury imposes sanctions on Russian media group

US sanctions Eurasia NGO Director Nelly Parutenko

The US Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on the Rossiya Segodnya media group, TV-Novosti, and Eurasia NGO, citing their alleged involvement in Russia’s destabilizing actions abroad.

Among those targeted are Rossiya Segodnya’s Director General Dmitry Kisilyov, as well as Eurasia NGO Director Nelly Parutenko, with restrictions placed on their activities.

The sanctions focus on alleged information operations using cyber capabilities in various regions, with the US emphasizing that it is not based on the content of reporting but on covert influence activities.

The US believes that these Russian media entities coordinate closely with high-ranking Russian officials to carry out actions attributed to them by Washington.
