Lavrov cautions against Ukraine using Western weapons to strike Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned against the dangerous consequences of allowing Ukraine to use Western-provided weapons to strike deep inside Russian territory. He compared the discussions to playing with fire and emphasized that Russia will take adequate decisions based on the threats posed by the West.

Lavrov highlighted that the decision to authorize Ukraine to use long-range weapons for strikes inside Russia was made long ago. He criticized the West for working on presenting it to the public through PR tactics. This comes after a meeting in Kiev where US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky discussed the matter but did not make any immediate decisions.

A source revealed that Zelensky presented a detailed plan on how Kiev could use long-range missiles for strikes into Russian territory to Blinken during the meeting. Lavrov pointed out that the potential deployment of longer-range weapons to Kiev could create a buffer zone that extends to Poland, as previously mentioned by Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

The situation remains tense as discussions continue on the authorization for Ukraine to strike targets inside Russia with US-supplied weapons. Lavrov’s cautionary words serve as a reminder of the potential risks and consequences of such actions, emphasizing the need for careful consideration and diplomatic solutions to avoid escalating tensions further.
