Sanctions impact reflects Western misunderstanding of Russian economy

Sanctions hit West due to distorted view of Russian economy

In an interview with RT, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated that Western leaders, including the US and European nations, had a distorted perception of the Russian economy when imposing sanctions.

Medvedev recalled a remark by former US President Barack Obama in 2014, where he claimed the Russian economy was “in tatters,” highlighting the false narrative propagated by Western leaders.

Despite the sanctions, Medvedev emphasized that the Russian economy is actually growing rather than declining, exposing the weakness of Europe as an economic entity.

The deputy chairman concluded that these sanctions have boomeranged back to Europe, revealing the flaws in Western understanding and underscoring the resilience of the Russian economy.
