The extreme right in Venezuela, represented by María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia, participated in a virtual hearing at the Chamber of Deputies in Brasília, discussing the upcoming elections in the neighboring country.
Supported by Brazilian right-wing and Bolsonaro allies, Machado and González criticized the Brazilian government’s stance on Venezuela, labeling Maduro’s regime as a dictatorship.
Machado emphasized the need for international pressure, pointing out that Maduro’s inauguration on January 10 could lead to a mass exodus of Venezuelans.
González, on the other hand, highlighted concerns about the Venezuelan government’s alliances with countries like Russia, Iran, and Belarus, as well as criticized laws like the Bolívar Act that criminalize support for sanctions against Venezuela.
