Israels military intervention escalates crisis in Syria

Israel reinforces presence in Golan Heights after Assads downfall

Following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s government on Sunday, Syria is plunged into a deeper crisis with bombings in Damascus and Israel’s military mobilization in the Golan Heights.

The Israeli airstrikes targeted a security complex in the Syrian capital, while Netanyahu ordered troops into the demilitarized zone in response to Syrian forces’ withdrawal from the region.

As rebel forces advance, Israel strengthens its presence in the Golan Heights, with troops aiding UN peacekeepers in repelling attacks near Hader. The situation in Syria takes a critical turn with the rebels seizing control of Damascus and Aleppo, marking a new phase in the conflict.

Russia offers asylum to Assad, while Iran emphasizes respect for the Syrian people’s self-determination. The US expresses concern over the escalating violence, with President-elect Biden closely monitoring the developments.
