China is implementing countermeasures against 13 US military firms and six senior executives in response to the US’ recent arms sales announcement to Taiwan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced this decision on Thursday.
The countermeasures target a range of US military companies and executives involved in arms sales to Taiwan, freezing their assets in China and prohibiting trade and cooperation activities. These actions are part of China’s comprehensive response to the US’ repeated violations of the one-China principle and joint communiqués.
In addition to freezing assets and prohibiting activities, China is denying visas or entry into China for the listed senior executives, including individuals from companies like Raytheon and BAE Systems. These measures are a clear message to the US to stop interfering in China’s internal affairs and respecting its sovereignty.
China’s latest countermeasures come in the wake of the US’ announcement of arms sales to Taiwan, including spare parts for F-16 jets and radars worth $385 million. The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized the gravity of these actions and reiterated the importance of upholding the one-China principle.
