Colombian Finance Minister resigns amid corruption allegations

President Petro defends Bonilla amidst corruption accusations

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced the resignation of Finance Minister Ricardo Bonilla amidst corruption suspicions.

Bonilla, who had been in office for 2 and a half years, was replaced by former Vice Minister Diego Guevara.

Petro stated that Bonilla fell into a trap due to academic naivety, trusting individuals who betrayed the government’s trust.

The ex-minister faced investigations for corruption involving millions in state losses and allegedly favoring politicians in exchange for financial support.
