In response to Trump’s mass deportation threat, Mexico has announced a new app with an alert button for migrants.
In case of imminent deportation, Mexican citizens can immediately notify the nearest consulate, family members, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico.
This will allow for immediate alerts when someone perceives an urgent risk of detention, said Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente.
Mexico is dialoguing with other governments in the region, such as Guatemala and Honduras, to coordinate contingency plans in light of the threat of mass deportations from the US.
