Chamber responds to Dino on compliance with law on amendments

Chamber of Deputies sent responses to Supreme Court on amendment payments.

The Chamber of Deputies recently sent the requested responses to the Supreme Court regarding the payment of R$4.2 billion in commission amendments. Earlier, Minister Dino gave a deadline until 8 pm for the House to clarify the payment of parliamentary amendments, which are suspended by the minister’s decision.

In the document sent to the Supreme Court on Friday (27), the Chamber of Deputies argues that there was no legal requirement for commission amendment recommendations to be voted on by the committees before Law Complement No. 210 of 2024, which was enacted to comply with the rules for resource allocation.

The Chamber reiterated the full legality of the procedure adopted by the leaders of the National Congress, both the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate, under the legal guidance of the ministries. After receiving the information, Dino will decide on the suspension of the amendments.

Regarding the lack of minutes of the committee meetings for the approval of amendments, the Chamber argued that the requirement will only be applied from the budgets for the following years. Until November 25, 2024, there was no regulation in place for the voting on recommendations made by Parliament, according to the House.
