In response to claims made by the Philippine National Security Council spokesperson regarding China Coast Guard (CCG) patrols in the South China Sea, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that CCG conducts patrols in accordance with the law, which is justified and beyond reproach.
Guo emphasized that China’s sovereignty and rights in the South China Sea have been established through historical evidence and are consistent with international law. He reiterated that CCG’s law enforcement patrols are entirely justified.
The spokesperson urged the Philippines to cease any infringement, provocative acts, or inflammatory claims that disrupt peace and stability in the region. He called for actions to avoid complicating the situation in the South China Sea.
Guo’s statement highlighted China’s position on sovereignty and the legality of CCG patrols, urging for restraint and cooperation to maintain peace in the South China Sea.
