Russia’s state nuclear agency, Rosatom, and radiation, chemical, and biological protection troops are working together to secure the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) in Ukraine. Governor Yevgeny Balitsky reassured that despite disruptions in electricity supply, the plant’s safety measures are effective.
Additional troops have been deployed to the facility to bolster security and address any potential threats. The governor emphasized that there is no nuclear danger at the plant, and measures are in place to keep the facility under control.
Efforts are also being made to assist those affected by Ukrainian attacks on residential areas. Various aid programs are in place to compensate for damages, provide emergency shelters, and accommodate displaced individuals in resort facilities.
The Zaporozhye nuclear plant, with a capacity of 6GW, is the largest in Europe. Since Russia took control of the facility in February 2022, there have been periodic attacks by the Ukrainian army using drones, artillery, and rockets. Despite these challenges, the plant’s defensive structures have helped mitigate the impact of these attacks.
