Assads Fall Weakens Palestinian Resistance, Says Analyst

Deposition of Syrian president by rebels allied with Israel could weaken Palestinian resistance

The deposition of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday by rebels allied with Israel is expected to weaken the Palestinian resistance. Analyst Bruno Huberman warns that the fragmentation of Syria could be a lethal blow to the anti-imperialist resistance.

Huberman highlights Syria’s role in arming and supporting Palestinian guerrilla forces, fostering alliances between Islamic and leftist groups. The recent events are seen as detrimental to the resistance against Israel, diminishing Palestinian capacity to access weapons and strategies from Iran, Hezbollah, and the Resistance Axis.

The rebel leader Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) expressed gratitude towards Israel for their support against Assad. This shift in power dynamics could benefit Israel by expanding its territorial influence and weakening key allies in the region.

The fall of Assad is seen as a victory for American imperialism, a response to Biden’s failures in the Middle East and an attempt to maintain control over the region. This victory represents the interests of imperialism, continuing a policy of supporting proxy wars in the region.
