President Joe Biden has sent a proposal to the US Congress for the sale of $8 billion (about $49 billion) in weapons to Israel.
The arms would be used in the war in Gaza, which has already claimed the lives of 45,658 Palestinians and injured another 108,583 people, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
The sale of weapons depends on a vote from the country’s lawmakers and reinforces support for the administration of the outgoing US president to the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accused of war crimes.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has already ordered Netanyahu’s arrest.
