Uneafro filed requests on Tuesday for Governor Tarcísio de Freitas and Secretary of Public Security Guilherme Derrite to testify before the Human Rights and Public Security committees of the São Paulo Legislative Assembly.
The requests come in response to recent cases of police lethality in the state, including the murders of Gabriel Renan da Silva Soares and 10-year-old Ryan Gabriel dos Santos.
In addition, the movement calls for an investigation into an operation in southern São Paulo where a man was thrown off a bridge by military police.
These episodes also prompted a request for investigation by Uneafro to the State Public Prosecutor’s Office, urging them to examine the conduct of Freitas and Derrite in managing the police force.
