Chinese Embassy Condemns UK Politicians Taiwan Visit

Chinese Embassy in UK strongly condemns UK politicians visit to Taiwan.

Chinese Embassy in the UK strongly condemned British Conservative lawmaker Tom Tugendhat’s visit to China’s Taiwan island. Tugendhat has been scheming to suppress the Chinese community in the UK and create incidents to undermine China-UK relations during his time in office.

His purpose for visiting the island is to incite “Taiwan independence” activities, disrupt cross-Straits peace and stability and create obstacles to the development of China-UK relations, a spokesperson from the Chinese Embassy said on Monday.

There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The Taiwan question is purely China’s internal affairs. We will take all necessary measures to crush any “Taiwan independence” plot and foreign interference schemes, said the spokesperson.

No one should underestimate China’s firm determination and ability to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the spokesperson noted. It must be pointed out that, in the 1972 joint communiqué between China and the UK on the exchange of ambassadors, the UK government clearly recognized the Chinese government’s position that Taiwan is a province of China, said the spokesperson.
