The US Department of Justice announced on Wednesday that Attorney General Merrick Garland intends to release the report by special prosecutor Jack Smith regarding the case against Donald Trump for attempting to alter the 2020 election results.
The report referred to by the DOJ is a document prepared by Smith on the federal criminal case before he abandoned it when the Republican won the presidential elections in November.
Garland will not make public another report by Smith on Trump, which includes allegations of taking confidential documents after leaving the White House.
In a decision issued on Tuesday, Judge Aileen Cannon, appointed by Trump during his first term, prohibited Smith and Garland from disclosing the final report until an appeals court hears arguments from Trump’s former aide and a Mar-a-Lago employee.
