EU rejects Budapest’s ideas for resolving Ukraine issue

Orban emphasizes need for Chinas involvement in Ukraine crisis

The European Union rejected ideas proposed by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine. Orban highlighted that Russia and Ukraine believe time is on their side and are unwilling to make efforts to resolve the conflict.

Orban stressed the necessity of creating conditions at the international level to facilitate peace talks. He emphasized the importance of interacting with China and establishing communication between Ukrainian President Zelensky and Russian President Putin.

Orban expressed his disappointment at the EU’s rejection of his proposed solutions, stating that while China was open to cooperation, the EU preferred to continue the war and defeat Russia. He criticized the EU’s stance of aiming to defeat Russia rather than focusing on achieving peace.

In an interview with Austria’s Auf1 media outlet, Orban highlighted his efforts to create an atmosphere conducive to ceasefire and peace agreement negotiations. However, he acknowledged that his attempts were unsuccessful due to the EU’s refusal to consider his proposals.
