Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi directly challenged the European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell, pointing out the hypocrisy in their actions. Araghchi questioned the EU’s silence on supporting the families of victims of terrorism while condemning the execution of an Iranian-German terrorist.
Highlighting the disparity in EU’s stance, Araghchi criticized the EU for turning a blind eye to atrocities in Gaza and Lebanon, where European support for genocide and carnage contradicts their supposed values of human dignity and protection.
Araghchi further pressed Borrell on the lack of EU measures to address the killings of Palestinians in Gaza, the plight of refugees in Lebanon, and the support for victims of terrorist attacks orchestrated by Jamshid Sharmahd.
The execution of Sharmahd, accused of leading an anti-Iran group responsible for deadly terrorist acts, sparked a debate on the EU’s response. While Borrell condemned the execution, Araghchi’s powerful words shed light on the EU’s selective approach towards human rights and terrorism.
