Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran has not received any letter from US President Donald Trump regarding fresh nuclear talks. Araghchi emphasized Iran’s stance of never agreeing to negotiations that imply coercion.
After Trump claimed to have sent a letter proposing negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations dismissed the claim, stating they have not received any such letter yet.
Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed Iran’s rejection of insistence on talks by bullying powers, stating that such insistence does not aim to solve issues but rather to assert and impose their own expectations on Iran.
In May 2018, Trump withdrew the US from the JCPOA agreement and imposed severe economic sanctions on Iran. In response, Tehran began reducing its commitments under the agreement after the other parties failed to secure its interests.
