Iran has strongly protested the execution of six Iranians in Saudi Arabia, summoning the Saudi ambassador in Tehran.
The executions, carried out on drug trafficking charges, were deemed unacceptable and a violation of international legal standards.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Iran made efforts to provide consular services to the individuals and seek to commute their sentences.
A legal and consular delegation from Iran is set to travel to Riyadh to follow up on the matter.
