Iran has unveiled a new ballistic missile named Etemad, meaning “trust” in Persian. The missile, measuring 16 meters in length with a diameter of 1.25 meters, was showcased during a ceremony in Tehran attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Etemad has a guided warhead that can steer the missile until impact, making it capable of traveling 1,700 kilometers. President Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran’s military power is solely for self-defense and not a threat to other nations.
Iran asserts that its ballistic missiles serve as a crucial deterrent against the United States and Israel. The development of Iran’s defense and space capabilities is aimed at ensuring that no country dares to invade Iranian territory.
The missile program is deemed non-negotiable by Iran, with a focus on deterrence rather than aggression. President Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran’s defense capabilities are meant to safeguard its sovereignty and ensure peace in the region.
