At least three people were killed and other 74 civilians injured in an Israeli airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed the casualties, including a woman, a girl, and a boy, and reported the injuries.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the attack targeted a Hezbollah commander.
According to the Lebanese state news agency NNA, the attack involved a drone firing three missiles. A high-ranking Hezbollah source told Sputnik that Israel’s attempt to kill commander Fuad Shukr failed.
The airstrike followed an earlier incident where a rocket hit a football field in Majdal Shams, killing 12 minors and injuring 30.
In retaliation, the Israeli Air Force targeted Hezbollah sites in various regions of Lebanon, with heavy artillery also used against multiple locations.
The IDF Chief of General Staff, Herzi Halevi, indicated that Israeli forces are preparing for further conflict in the north, alongside ongoing operations in Gaza.
