Justice overturns injunction and upholds Conanda resolution on legal abortion for children and adolescents victims of sexual violence

Judicial decision supports resolution allowing legal abortion for child victims of sexual violence

The Judiciary overturned a temporary injunction on Monday night that suspended the resolution of the National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (Conanda) regarding legal abortion in cases of risk to the pregnant person, rape-induced pregnancies, and anencephaly. The resolution, approved in December, had been suspended by the Federal Justice after a request from senator Damares Alves, who alleged disrespect for the voting process by Conanda. Now, the resolution is back in effect.
