President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will departed this Sunday (4) for Santiago, Chile, where he will fulfill a series of commitments during his state visit to the country. The agenda includes political meetings, participation in a business forum, and the signing of several bilateral agreements.
On Monday morning (5), Lula was received at La Moneda Palace by Chilean President Gabriel Boric. The two had a private meeting, followed by an expanded meeting with their respective cabinets, the signing of acts, and a press statement.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at least 15 agreements are ready to be signed, covering various areas such as science and technology, defense, human rights, and trade and investment relations.
After lunch, the Brazilian president was received by the heads of the Judiciary and Legislative Powers of Chile, and meet with representatives of Latam, the largest Chilean company operating in Brazil, and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
At the end of the day, Lula participated in the closing of the Chile-Brazil Business Forum, which bringed together around 500 leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss issues involving trade between the two countries.
Today, meetings are scheduled with Santiago’s mayor, Irací Hassler, and former Chilean President Ricardo Lagos.
