A delegation of young people from Taiwan, led by Ma Ying-jeou, is set to visit the mainland from Dec. 18 to 26. The announcement was made by a mainland spokesperson on Wednesday.
The delegation will be participating in the cross-Strait youth ice and snow festival in Heilongjiang and Sichuan provinces, among other events. Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, expressed a warm welcome and hopes for continued cultural exchanges and cooperation between both sides of the Taiwan Strait, especially among the youth.
The cross-Strait youth ice and snow festival, scheduled from Dec. 18 to 24 in Harbin and other cities in Heilongjiang, will include various activities such as screening and awarding of short videos created by young individuals from both sides of the Strait. Additionally, immersive winter sports experiences will be featured at the event.
Approximately 1,000 individuals from Taiwan, primarily young people, are expected to participate in the festival. The spokesperson emphasized the importance of carrying on the fine traditional Chinese culture and promoting cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation in various sectors.
