Brazilian popular movements sent a letter to President Lula on Tuesday, expressing support for Venezuelan President Maduro’s re-election. They urge the Brazilian government to recognize the legitimacy of Chavez’s third term.
The letter also calls for Brazilian foreign relations to uphold the principles of national integration in the region and open sincere dialogue with different Latin American countries.
The groups emphasize the importance of respecting sovereignty and self-determination of peoples, as enshrined in the Brazilian Constitution and the UN Charter, guiding our independent foreign policy.
They highlight the need for Brazil to send a message of support for peace and regional stability by recognizing Maduro’s victory, fostering friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
