The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) recently conducted live-fire shooting exercises with a new self-propelled air defense system. This system, integrated with a rotary cannon and missile launchers, demonstrated its potential against drone threats during the drills.
The new weapon, affiliated with the PLA 71st Group Army, showcased high mobility, accuracy, and extended range capabilities. Equipped with a fire control system, it can accurately track and engage targets by calculating their trajectories based on movement.
In a recent tactical exercise, the air defense troops efficiently reacted to multiple waves of diverse targets under complex electromagnetic interference. The new equipment not only enhances terminal air defense but also establishes a mobile defense network for attack troops and support forces.
Chinese military aviation expert Fu Qianshao highlighted the importance of the new self-propelled missile-and-gun system in mobile and field air defense. With drones emerging as a new threat in modern warfare, anti-aircraft guns play a crucial role in countering swarm attacks.
