The world is closely watching the political crises unfolding in the two largest economies of the European Union, Germany and France. Both countries, also G7 members, are experiencing turbulence that could impact all of Europe, creating space for far-right forces to advance in their decision-making structures. The Bundestag, the lower house of the German parliament, recently rejected a vote of confidence presented by Prime Minister Olaf Scholz, leading to early elections in February 2025.
