Progress on Iran-Afghanistan border wall project

Construction of 150km border walls continues in northeast Iran.

The commander of the 277th Shahid Parviz Tavalaee Mobile Assault Brigade announced significant progress in providing necessary infrastructure for the border wall project in northeast Iran. Over the past year, 40 kilometers of walls have been completed, with an additional 18 kilometers of concrete walls ready for installation.

This strategic national initiative incorporates the latest scientific and technical methods developed by the Army’s engineering forces. The project, spanning 953 kilometers, has seen over 300 kilometers under construction in Razavi Khorasan Province during the first phase. Despite harsh climatic conditions, five engineering groups from the Army’s Ground Force are making remarkable progress.

The four-meter-tall walls, topped with fencing for enhanced security, are being constructed in Taybad County, which shares a 90-kilometer border with Afghanistan. This region holds economic significance due to the Dogharoon crossing, a century-old gateway located southeast of Mashhad. The project aims to enhance border security and strengthen ties between the two countries.

The ongoing construction efforts are a testament to Iran’s commitment to safeguarding its borders and ensuring national security. With the utilization of advanced engineering techniques, the border wall project signifies a crucial step towards fortifying Iran’s northeastern borders and protecting its territorial integrity.
