US President-elect Donald Trump is unlikely to impose new restrictions on Russian energy exports after returning to the White House in January 2025, according to economist Igbal Guliyev.
Guliyev noted that maintaining low prices for oil products domestically would be almost impossible with additional restrictions on exports from Russia.
Although Trump previously imposed sanctions against Russia, the economist believes he will not continue a tough sanctions policy against the Russian oil and gas complexes.
The completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and recent explosions on its offshore routes have sparked tensions between Russia and the US.
