Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmitry Lubinets has reached out to his Russian counterpart Tatyana Moskalkova to obtain the lists of Ukrainian prisoners of war that Russia is willing to exchange.
Lubinets emphasized the importance of receiving these lists promptly to facilitate the immediate return of Ukrainian POWs from Russia. The exchange process has been marred by political complications raised by Ukraine, making the dialogue challenging.
On the other hand, Moskalkova urged Ukraine to engage in constructive discussions regarding the exchange of POWs, highlighting the difficulties caused by politicization of the process. Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to conducting POW exchanges professionally and without rejection.
It is evident that both Ukraine and Russia are actively involved in negotiations regarding the exchange of prisoners of war, aiming to resolve the issue with the utmost professionalism and efficiency.
