Venezuelan Minister accuses Brazilian government of involvement in rescue operation

Venezuelan Minister claims Brazilian military helicopter rescued mercenary in 2019

Venezuelan Interior and Justice Minister Diosdado Cabello accused the Brazilian government of participating in the rescue of Venezuelan mercenary Damian Alexander Rojas Díaz in 2019 during Jair Bolsonaro’s administration.

Cabello presented a video of Díaz confessing his intent to carry out an attack in Venezuela, stating that the operation was coordinated by a terrorist group with foreign government involvement, including Bolsonaro’s.

The minister also revealed new plans of right-wing extremists that were thwarted, including Operation Aurora targeting military units in Bolívar state, which led to the arrest of several mercenaries.

Maduro’s government had previously denounced Brazilian assistance to deserting military personnel in 2019, highlighting ongoing security threats and attacks faced by Venezuela.
