Chinese President Xi Jinping has instructed all-out search and rescue efforts to minimize casualties following a landslide that buried houses and left over 30 people unaccounted for in southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
Xi emphasized the importance of strengthening monitoring, early warning, and scientific rescue work to prevent secondary disasters and protect lives and property.
Premier Li Qiang urged efforts to rescue the trapped, determine the cause of the landslide, and prevent secondary disasters by examining potential geological hazards in the area.
Vice Premier Liu Guozhong has led a working team to guide the rescue operations in Sichuan.
