The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is currently undergoing routine maintenance and repairs to ensure all systems remain operational, as stated by plant spokeswoman Yevgenia Yashina. In accordance with safety protocols and schedules, crucial systems are undergoing technical maintenance, tests, and safety checks to confirm their operability and compliance with safety requirements.
All necessary repairs are being carried out on schedule to maintain the equipment at a high degree of preparedness for launch. The highly qualified personnel at the plant are dedicated to ensuring operational safety, as mentioned by Yashina.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General, Rafael Grossi, has pledged continued support to ZNPP personnel to ensure stable and safe functioning of the nuclear site. However, he emphasized the growing number of attacks on the plant and the tense security situation.
The Zaporozhye NPP, Europe’s largest nuclear power generating facility with six power units, has been affected by the conflict in Energodar. Currently, all six units are in cold shutdown and not generating electricity. Despite this, the plant’s personnel are maintaining safe operation under strict radiation and nuclear safety standards with IAEA supervision.
